Our Commitment

AFC Transportation has made a firm commitment to reduce our company-wide carbon emissions by 2% each year, with the goal of ultimately reaching a net negative carbon footprint.

Carbon footprint is a measurement of the greenhouse gases, or carbon dioxide, made by all human activities, including carbon emissions created through the burning of fossil fuels, electricity consumption and the production of foods and goods. An individual’s carbon footprint is the total amount of carbon dioxide produced in the making of all goods and services he or she consumes.

We’ve made it easy for individuals, organizations and companies to become more environmentally responsible. By reducing our own carbon footprint across the board, we pass a lower carbon footprint along to our customers.

Green Initiatives

Carbon Offset Program

As part of our commitment to green transportation, we’ve partnered with Sustainable Travel International, an organization dedicated to helping transportation companies measure and reduce carbon emissions. Thank to our membership, Sustainable Travel International has provided us with the Carbon Offset Calculator.

AFC Transportation customers may use the Carbon Offset Calculator directly from our website to calculate the exact carbon footprint which will be created during a trip made using our services. The calculator also provides an option to offset that carbon footprint by donating funds towards organizations involved in sustainable development, such as reforestation, energy efficiency and high quality renewable energy. If you wish, you may offset part or all of a trip’s carbon footprint, allowing your and your organization to remain carbon footprint free.

Green Vehicle Technology

High standards in vehicle technology and maintenance are part of our commitment to transportation safety, but they are also an important part of our green initiative. By maintaining each of our fleet’s vehicles with optimally performing engines, transmissions and tires, we ensure the most efficient travel possible. Regular vehicle maintenance and use of the latest instrument technology allow us to reduce our vehicles’ emissions to the bare minimum. Additionally, every new vehicle purchased by AFC Transportation is equipped with a reduced-carbon emission bio diesel engine.

In-House Sustainable Practices

At AFC Transportation, we take environmental responsibility to the minute details of our everyday business life. We’ve reduced in-house waste by using recyclable or reusable utensils and office supplies; all our recyclable waste is sent to proper recycling facilities, and we’ve decreased our paper usage by instituting company-wide use of electronic filing and paperwork. As always, we help customers make their transactions with us as environmentally responsible as possible by offering online reservations, electronic invoicing and ebilling options.
